I understand from your post that you're seeing a spinning color wheel when opening folders in Finder. There may be some processes running in the background that could be causing this to happen, so I first suggest that you boot your Mac to safe mode and try to open folders. After testing in safe mode, restart like normal, and try again. Please report back with your findings!
